Pictured in Smith I, Figure 397 is a very ornately embossed miniature oil lamp. This lamp was originally produced in red satin glass only. About 1995, B&P Lamp Supply of McMinnville, Tennessee, began offering reproductions of this lamp in glossy white milk glass, satin white milk glass, glossy pale pink and satin pale pink. Although the new lamp has embossing not as sharp as the original, the lamps are very close in dimensions. Color is the best way to discern the old from the new. If it is in red satin, the lamp is an original. In any other color, it is a reproduction. The original lamp is shown below on the left, the reproduction on the right.
